About Sukkot

ABOUT SUKKOT

Sukkot, also known as the Feast of Tabernacles, is also called the Feast of Ingathering. It is a time to remember ancient Israel’s time in the wilderness before they entered the promise land led by Moses. We are told to memorialize this event by dwelling seven days in temporary structures and to wave branches on the first day of this seven-day feast.

So, does this time of celebration have a greater meaning? Yes, absolutely! With Sukkot also being called the Feast of Ingathering, which is after the final harvest for the season, points to a greater time of the Ingathering of the kingdom. Yeshua promised of a time that when all that are His would be gathered from the four corners of the earth and brought to Him. This is that final harvest. At this time there will be the first resurrection. All those that are gathered whether alive or from the grave will be changed from corruptible to incorruptible.

So, what does this Sukkot celebration have to do with all this? When Yeshua returns, He is coming for His bride. This means there is going to be a celebration. In ancient times a marriage was celebrated with a seven-day feast. That is exactly what Sukkot is pointing to, the seven-day wedding feast just prior to the beginning of the Messianic reign.

“And I heard as the voice of a great crowd, as the sound of many waters and as the sound of mighty thunders, saying, “Hallelujah, for יהוה Ěl Shaddai reigns! “Let us be glad and rejoice and give Him praise, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and His wife prepared herself.” And to her it was given to be dressed in fine linen, clean and bright, for the fine linen is the righteousness of the set-apart ones. And he said to me, “Write, ‘Blessed are those who have been called to the marriage supper of the Lamb!’” And he said to me, “These are the true words of Elohim.” Ḥazon (Revelation) 19:6-9 TS2009

As we gather for this seven-day feast to memorialize the Israelites in the wilderness let us understand the greater picture that it points to. The marriage supper of the Lamb. The celebration of the wedding feast. As we are in a rehearsal stage for this great event, let us remember to keep our lamps full of oil and have our garments ready for our Bridegroom is returning very soon.
